Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December 1924 in a Hindu Brahmin family in Gwalior (M.P). His father was a school teacher. And he died on 16 August 2018 in Delhi at the age of 93.

He completed his schooling from Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Gwalior. He completed his graduation in BA and post graduation with MA in Political Science from DAV College, Kanpur. 

During his student days, he joined the Quit India Movement of 1942. He was a member of RSS, a Hindu nationalist voluntary organisation. He was one of the co-founders and senior leader of BJP.

He was an Indian politician and poet who served as the 10th Prime Minister of India three times, first for 13 days in 1996, then for 13 months from 1998 to 1999, then again from 1999 to 2004.

He was an veteran politician who was elected to the Lok Sabha 9 times and  the Rajya Sabha 2 times. He played an important role in domestic and foreign policy of India after independence.

During his tenure as P.M, India conducted the Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998.  He was  also awarded Bharat Ratna (2015).Padma Vibhushan (1992). India's highest civilian award by the President.
